President’s Message
Dear Members: Well, we have some big news from the State election held at the FAR-WCR Annual Meetings in Orlando. We are so excited to announce that Lynn Mooney, former LCP (Local Chapter President) & DVP (State District Vice President) has been elected to the position of Governor for 2010! There are 6 Governors for Florida and we are so proud of Lynn for accepting this position. In addition to the state-level responsibilities, the Governor sits on the National Governing Board, which is the decision-making body for the national organization. Few people make the decision to offer their time and wisdom at this level and we are very proud of Lynn and know she will do well. At this event we had two members receive State awards. Susanna Madden, Founders Award and Lynn Mooney, Member of the Year. Both of these are hard awards to win and we are very excited that Tampa members were the recipients.
In each of the newsletters I start by reflecting on one of the Core Values of The Council. In the last issue it was Professional Credibility..This month I remind us of two more: Core Value #3: Diversity The membership experience is enriched through the celebration of and active outreach to the full diversity of our industry. At the same time, the strength of the organization lies in what unites us all - our shared values. Core Value #4: Participation of REALTORS® is the opportunity to contribute to change, and to be changed, personally and professionally. We try to encourage members to get involved in all aspects of running the organization. We have needs for all kinds assistance and contributions; our members have many diverse talents and skills and we are great at sharing and providing training. We not only have officer positions but many committees where you could serve as a member or as the Chairman. The more members who are involved the stronger our Chapter will be. There are many associations in which we can and do participate based on our specific field but for me Women’s Council of REALTORS is Where it All Comes Together®
